Mindy Thooi
BA (Hons) Dance, RAD RTS, PBT certified

Mindy has 22 years of teaching experience specialising in Classical Ballet and holds a Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies from
Royal Academy of Dance (RAD). She is a full member of Registered Teacher Status with RAD and served as panel member in the RAD Western Australia Advisory Regional Panel from 2009 to 2014.

Mindy began her ballet training at the age of six under
Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabi at Federal Academy of Ballet and has completed the Advanced level. In 1995 after a successful audition with Christopher Bannerman - Professor of Dance at the School of Dance Middlesex University, she received a place at London College of Dance to continue her ballet training and graduated with Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Dance in 1998. Whist in UK, Mindy has worked closely with notable British choreographers Kate Flatt and Tom Snapford, performing to their original choreography at The Bowen West Theatre.

As a choreographer, Mindy has created new works for Kuala Lumpur Dance Theatre and in 1999, her piece “Interior Motive” was selected as a finalist for the prestigious Saitama Choreography Competition in Japan. In 2004, Mindy was invited as a guest choreographer for Tony Llacer Memorial Performance at La-Salle Arts College in Singapore.

She has trained and choreographed Classical Ballet, Demi-character, Contemporary and National Dance solos for young ballet students to compete for Western Australia RAD Festival of Dance, Mandurah Festival of Dance WA and Asian Grand Prix.

The importance of keeping good progress in the training of her students has led Mindy to attend regular CPD courses by Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), International dance teaching workshops and the latest being an invite to a ballet MasterClass in Singapore presented by Ms Patricia Hon - Professor of Dance department at Cornish College of the Art
